Its\ngoal is to raise awareness of the fight against cancer while raising funds to\nimprove cancer screening and treatment services at our regional hospital and to\nsupport the Acadian Peninsula facilities in meeting their specific needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year&#8217;s objective is to\nraise <strong><em>$180,000<\/em><\/strong> in order to acquire the <strong><em>Ortho Vision\ntransfusion medicine<\/em><\/strong> machine at the Chaleur\nRegional Hospital.<a> According to Pierre A. No\u00ebl,\nLaboratories Manager, Acadie-Bathurst, &#8220;This equipment will be a major\nasset for the Chaleur Regional Hospital laboratory, which also serves hospitals\non the Acadian Peninsula for specific and urgent blood tests. <\/a>The function of this\ndevice is to safely deliver blood products and derivatives during a blood\ntransfusion, with accuracy and speed being among its greatest advantages.<strong>A<\/strong><strong>s for the link with the fight against\ncancer, <\/strong>Chronic anemia (low blood volume) is a common complication in patients\nwith advanced cancer or after aggressive chemotherapy. Blood transfusion\nusually occurs with the following clinical signs of anemia: lack of oxygenation\nand heart function. The purpose of blood transfusions is therefore to reverse\nthis anemia (decrease in blood flow).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, for the Fondation H\u00f4pital de l&#8217;Enfant-J\u00e9sus of Caraquet,\nequipment in the areas of <strong><em>Medical\nImaging<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Automated Breast Ultrasound\nmachine<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Physiotherapy<\/em><\/strong> will be acquired. For the Fondation de l&#8217;H\u00f4pital de Lam\u00e8que, funds will\nbe provided to the <strong><em>Medical Unit<\/em><\/strong> through a project aimed at the <strong><em>multisensory room approach<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Ambulatory Care,\nSpiritual Care<\/em><\/strong>, the <strong><em>Chronic Illness Clinic<\/em><\/strong> and the <strong>Nutrition\nDepartment<\/strong>. And for the Fondation Les\nAmis de l&#8217;H\u00f4pital de Tracadie, the acquisition of equipment for <strong><em>Respiratory Therapy,\nConcentrated Care, Sensory Medicine<\/em><\/strong> and the <strong><em>Laboratory<\/em><\/strong> will be possible thanks to the <strong><em>Roses Radiothon<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chairpersons of the Roses Radiothon, <strong><em>Mona Losier<\/em><\/strong>, Chaleur Regional Hospital\nFoundation, <strong><em>Joseph\nLanteigne and Annie-Julie Gauvin<\/em><\/strong>, Fondation H\u00f4pital de l&#8217;Enfant-J\u00e9sus de Caraquet, <strong><em>Marie-Jeanne No\u00ebl<\/em><\/strong>, La Fondation de l&#8217;H\u00f4pital de Lam\u00e8que Inc. and <strong><em>Eric Robichaud<\/em><\/strong>, Fondation Les Amis de l&#8217;H\u00f4pital de Tracadie, all agree that &#8220;For\nus, especially in these difficult times caused by the pandemic, this activity\nis an opportunity to make the population even more aware of the importance of\nhaving our health care at home first and to show them that by working together,\nas a region, we can help our health care professionals by equipping them with\nstate-of-the-art technology. Thanks to a record amount of\nmore than $239,000, we were able to proceed with the purchase of an automated breast\nultrasound machine for our regional hospital. According to <strong><em>Dr.<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>Denis Th\u00e9riault<\/em><\/strong>, Head Local Department of the Diagnostic Imaging, Acadie-Bathurst Zone at\nthe Chaleur Regional Hospital, &#8220;<strong><em>The Automated Breast &nbsp;Ultrasound\nmachine<\/em><\/strong>, which we are the first in\nthe province to have is a very important acquisition for the population of\nAcadie-Bathurst and will allow us to respond to the increasing demand for &nbsp;breast screening ultrasound.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1>&nbsp;<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h1>Walk 1 Km in my shoes &#8211; St-Isidore Asphalte\nis back!<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h1>&nbsp;<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the presidency of <strong><em>Mr. Ronald Losier<\/em><\/strong>, the second edition of the<strong><em> Walk 1 Km in my\nShoes-St-&nbsp;Isidore Asphalte <\/em><\/strong>will take place during the month of October, breast cancer awareness\nmonth. The financial goal of the <strong><em>2021 Walk a\nKilometer in my Shoes<\/em><\/strong> is to raise <strong><em>$45,000<\/em><\/strong>\nbetween the four Acadie-Bathurst foundations.\nThe funds raised will be used to purchase several pieces of equipment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, thanks to the Radiothon of Roses, an overall amount of\nnearly <strong><em>$2.6M<\/em><\/strong> has been invested in the acquisition of equipment to improve health care\nin our community!
