Linda Landry confirms arrangements for planned giving through her will to create an endowment fund – a donation that will continue to give to Enfant-Jésus RHSJ† Hospital for generations to come

Caraquet, March 6, 2024 – The members of the Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus in Caraquet were deeply touched by the gesture made by Linda Landry this week. Ms. Landry confirmed that she has left a sizeable donation in her will for the creation of an endowment fund. This fund will help support the oncology clinic, palliative care (patient and spiritual guidance) as well as urgent needs at Enfant-Jésus RHSJ† Hospital for the Acadian Peninsula community. This sum of money will be invested and the interest alone will help enhance these important services for the people served by the Enfant-Jésus RHSJ† Hospital in the Acadian Peninsula. “Through this commitment, which directly aligns with our strategic planning, the Foundation will be able to invest this major donation and give an amount annually to the services identified according to Ms. Landry’s wishes. This money will certainly be a great help in supporting the patients and staff of our hospital. We sincerely thank Linda Landry for wanting to take this initiative to create a fund that would continue to give for generations to come,” explained Ms. Christina Mallet, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus.

Ms. Landry is a native of the Grande-Anse region, formerly Village St-Paul de Grande-Anse. After her postsecondary studies, she made a career in Quebec in the fields of accounting and human resources. When she retired, she came back to live in the Acadian Peninsula to reconnect with the culture and the beauty of nature, settling in Grande-Anse in a home where she can enjoy the beautiful landscape of the sea.

«In February 2023 I learned that I have an incurable disease and my life expectancy is significantly reduced. Faced with imminent end of life, I wanted to plan my legacy with the Acadian Peninsula community in mind. My wish is to establish three endowment funds that will help support the Enfant-Jésus RHSJ† Hospital in Caraquet in delivering the best health care and services. I agreed to promote my gesture with a view to encouraging others to do the same. I am thus taking the opportunity to encourage people to think about health care in our facility, because we all have the power to make a difference by making a donation through our will or by asking people to make a donation instead of sending flowers when we die,” added Ms. Landry.

The Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus wanted to recognize Ms. Landry immediately for her great generosity by posting her commitment on the recognition wall of the Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus.
