CARAQUET – The inauguration ceremony for the 2018 Annual Campaign was held at the Enfant Jésus RHSJ† Hospital this morning to introduce the projects, some volunteers and donors, and to announce the final result of the campaign.
The financial objective for the 2018 campaign was set at $90,000 and, this year, the Medical, Emergency, Telehealth, Medical Imaging and Palliative Care sectors of the Enfant Jésus RHSJ† Hospital will see improvements thanks to the generosity of people in our community. Also, the Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus is proud to be able to contribute to the Chaleur Regional Hospital’s modernization project.
An overall amount of $107,687 was proudly announced by Mélanie Chiasson, Chair of the 2018 Annual Campaign. “Thank you to all of those who renewed their donations or became partners of the Foundation’s annual campaign. Thanks to you, projects that are important for us and generations to come are being achieved,” stated Ms. Chiasson.
The Foundation took the opportunity at this press conference to present, for the first time in its history, a donation towards the creation of an endowment fund. This fund was created following an approach by Mrs. Diane Blanchard to the National Bank. The latter wanted to commemorate the memory of her sister who held several positions during her nursing career. Thanks to a contribution of $5,000 from the National Bank, a donation of $2,500 was made to the Oncology Department of the hospital and an endowment fund was created in the following name: Funds in memory of Yvonne Clément.
“Today’s announcement is like the accomplishment of a dream. I wanted to recognize my sister for all the devotion she had regarding her work and I am grateful to the National Bank and the Foundation that have permitted me to realize my dearest wish”, explained Mrs. Blanchard. A board on the Foundation’s recognition wall has been reserved for others that would like to make a similar donation. An endowment fund allows giving in perpetuity as the capital is invested and only the interests are given annually.
“With an investment of over $1.9 million, the Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus is proud to have become a key partner of the hospital,” indicated Normand Mourant, Chair of the Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus.
The mission of the Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus is to raise funds in support of the Enfant-Jésus RHSJ† Hospital in order to improve the health care services provided to our community.
